What are the things that define a culture?

The culture is a word which we often use but which is difficult to define, in my opinion, it is what we receive from knowledge and from discoveries of the others before us. It is what is passed on by generation in generation and what gives us our identity. In the culture there is always somebody before, all that we have, all that we know; we receive it to lead it a little farther. Each, by becoming educated, prepares the future of the coming generations.

Excellent work! You have expressed your thoughts extremely well. The changes I made are small ones. My changes are just suggestions and show the way I would write. I speak U.S. English with a midwestern accent. Other native English speakers might write this differently.

Culture is a word we often use, but which is difficult to define.

In my opinion, it is what we receive from the knowledge and discoveries of others before us.*

It is that passed on from  generation to generation which gives us our identity.

Within culture,  all that we have, all that we know is given to us by those who  have gone before;  and  we receive it, learn   from  it  and enrich (?)  it with our own  experiences, that it may be handed down to those who come after us. ( Is this what you have tried to express in your third sentence Aquarelle?)

Each of us, by becoming educated,   prepares the future of the coming generations.

* it is quite correct to refer to 'others before us', but the 'the' is best placed before knowledge' -'the knowledge', this makes the sentence flow and conveys your meaning  more aptly.

Any correction I have made is merely to not only enhance your written work, but also to  translate the essence of what you are saying and bringing out the wisdom which is embodied within your exercise.

This is a very thought-provoking piece and I have enjoyed reading and commenting on it.

You have made an excellent attempt in defining culture as something that is handed down from generation to generation.

For the first time,  the star mark 'awesome' is  absolutely deserved.
