I was absently driving, my mind was far away, I surpassed a speed limit, but I didn’t realize it. The radar was ambushing ( nothing escape it!). “It’s a beautiful day”- I think… but, what’s the matter? A policeman stops me and fines to me 150 Euros for speeding!

Wonderful, the only thing to beware of is using past and present tense together.
I described two actions using two tenses because I wanted emphasize the consequence of a past action ( to see a roadsign ) in the present…I always think in Italian and translate my thoughts in English. The result is a “minestrone”( is it correct in English too?) or a new language that is not Italian and not English…Sorry, my friend …however tank you for your corrections! Grazie, ciao!
Look at the pictures and explain what has happened.
