what do you think about people Muslims?

I´ve a deep respect for muslims. I went to Morrocco, for example, and was greatly impressed by their hospitality and the way they treat children. But i still don´t understand why in some of muslim countries life seems to be without any value, why they throw stones on women until death, why they cut the thief´s hands, why they impose to some women to wear a veil if they don´t want, why some of them can´t go out without their father or brother, why for other it is forbidden to get the driving card, why if there is a rape, the woman is guilty, etc.. Those situations seem to belong to historical times and not to a current society. I think it is maybe because few muslim countries succeeded in separating religion  and law and other muslim countries applicate directly religious laws from Coran without considering the evolution of the world. But I am not a muslim, so, I migt be wrong in my interpretation.
