Macedonian language belongs to the East group of South Slavonic languages along with Bulgarian. It is spoken mainly in Macedonia as well as in all ex-Yugoslavian countries, Albania, Bulgaria*, Greece* (*where is not officially recognized), Australia, USA, Canada, Italy, Germany etc. As a Slavonic language shares many common elements with the Slavonic languages (Slovenian, Croatian, Bosnian, Serbian, Bulgarian, Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Belorussian, Czech, Slovak etc). As a base of the standard Macedonian language, its central dialects are taken i.e. the region of Veles and Pelagonia. Macedonian alphabet is phonetic and consists of 31 Cyrillic letters, 5 vowels and 26 consonants. |
