I prefer to organise my trips on my own. The travel agencies are expensive and usually offer package trips. When I go on holiday, I want to decide what to do, which places to visit, where to eat, generally I want to customize my trip.
Nowdays with internet it's very easy to organise a trip without paying a lot of money. It's possible to find, without great effort, everything you need (hotels, museums, restaurants etc) even with the users' rewiews attached. This allows you to know, in advance, if a restaurant is too expensive or if a hotel is reliable, in general, not to have unpleasant surprises.
I think in the future more and more people will organise their holiday that way.
