At the dentist

I usually go to the dentist twice (although "two times" is not grammatically incorrect, it is better English to say "twice") a year. But lLast time I went there about 9 months ago. It is good that there is this task on Busuu. It has reminded me about dentists. I have to make an appointment with the dentist. (Is there any difference between an appointment and an assignment? "appointment" is the word you want here! "assignment" is generally used of a task that one has to do, like "a homework assignment") I don't mind going to the dentist, of course. But it is quite expensive and some people go to the dentist when they have money or if they find it impossible to endure a toothache. Many people visit the dentist when they can no longer do anything except pull ("extract" has the right meaning, but the set, colloquial expression is "pull a tooth") a tooth. This happened to me when I was about 15 year old. I had a bad fear of dentists. I avoided them by any means. When I did go to the dentist it was too late, and I lost three of my teeth. I cannot help adding that modern dentistry tools and medicine are much better than 20 years ago. Now you get an injection in the gum and can forget about any pain. When my tooth was pulled 20 years ago, my hands were tied to the chair and two nurses were holding my body and head. Eventually I didn’t feel the pain because I lost consciousness. Take care of yourself, my friends. (The last phrase it is fine without the "my"...but the "my" makes it even better and funnier!)
