In this execise we have to use the simple present to answer, because the question is posed in present.

What do you usually do the day before an exam? 

Answer.

Before an exam I usually review my notebook, solve the questions and problems posed in some lessons and study the book of the course.

 

By this form, you enumerate a list of actions which concern to your preparation for the exam.
