In Russia there is no Good work. If you are interested, Halloween is mostly an event for children. Pumpkins are emptied of seeds, and then carved with various faces, mostly frightening ones. They are then displayed in widows or on porches. At night, children dress up in scary costumes--witches, warlocks, skeletons, devils, or politicians' masks, and go door to door in their neighborhoods collecting candy from neighbors. The custom is very old--it comes from the UK originally, as a celebration of the dead and departed souls--kind of like Day of the Dead in Spanish/Latin American countries. I think Wilhelm might dress up as a prince, but Gunnar as a ghoul. |
