I was driving my car above the speed limit when a radar took a shoot of my car. Unfortunately, I was fourty kilometres per hour over the speed limit. The cop took me my driving licence...Now I should take my bicycle to go to work!

The word "cop" is fine - "police officer" is just an option.

Thank you for your correction. I think that the word "cop" is too much informal, isn't it?

Yes - the word "cop" is very informal - almost a "slang" word.
