Before I tell you what details appear on a Polish identity card I have to give you a general background on national identity cards in Europe.
See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_identity_cards_in_the_European_Union
********
I am a Pole. I live in Poland. My country is a member state of the European Union.
You can read more about the member states of the European Union here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Member_state_of_the_European_Union
********
Currently, as of 1 December 2007, The European Union consists of 27 member countries. National identity cards are issued by 24 European Union member states to their citizens. You can see the overview of these cards (issued by 24 Member States) here: http://www.tinyurl.pl?WBf4enSG
********
An identity card is similar in material and shape to a credit card. A identity card is plastic and rectangular in shape. See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Polish_identity_card.png
********
A identity card has obverse and reverse. In other words, observe and reverse are the front side of that card and the back side of that one, respectively.
********
You can see obverse of the Polish identity card here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Polish_identity_card.png
********
You may wonder now how reverse of this identity card looks like. You can learn it here (You can find out it here): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Polish_identity_card_back.png
********
Now I tell you about [on] the details on the Polish identity card.
On the front there is a photo of the owner, given names (I have two names), surname, family name, parents' given names, date of birth, sex, owner's signature, identity card number, name of my country (Republic of Poland), and document name (identity card).
For the record I must enumerate briefly and clearly yet: the coat of arms of the Republic of Poland, a security hologram, and date of expiry.
On the back there is place of residence, place of birth, height in cm, colour of eyes, date of issue, issuing authority and personal number (PESEL - Universal Electronic Population Database) in the form of hologram. The card number there is below the PESEL . At the bottom there are the data in machine-readable form.
********
In future identity cards in Poland will be endowed in electronic chips. Sensitive data will be stored in there. (or In there will be stored sensitive data.) Of course, I'm deeply concerned about the announcement of upcoming control measures.
********
And what about your country? (And how is it in your country?)
