Well , I must go straight ahead and take the first road on the  right  , carry on straight ahead ,then take the next on the right .Carry on along this road , and take the next road on the left ,the Post Office is on the right at the next junction

Instead of across use straight ahead or forward in this exercise , across means crossing a road , river etc

I don't know if I have got my left and right mixed up , but that is only a minor issue

Well done though , I understood what you were saying ;o)
