Artistic styles

If we're talking about architectural styles I prefer Neo-classical (this is the busuu version or " Neoclassical " ). This style combines the elements of Rococo and minimalism at the same time. I like this style in interiors and decor. It gives me a feeling of comfort with the luxury elements but isn't overloaded with unnecessary things . In painting I like Realist art ( Realism ) . Its aesthetic position is the most accurate and objective representation ( or transmission ) of reality. Its boundaries are volatile and uncertain, it's a stylistically multifaceted and multivariate style. Also I like Impressionism too. I like Cubism and Surrealism less than other styles . Of course , these styles have very deep meanings , they make us think hard about the the meaning of the many things which seem so simple at first sight. Usually I want to relax with Art and not think hard . And what about you ?

I was recently in the Russian Museum in St Petersburg and almost the only things I liked were the pictures by Repin. I'm not surprised that everyone says they like Realist art most of all.

Of course , these styles also have a very deeply meanings a profound significance as they make us hard thinking hard about the the meanings we attach to of the many things which seem so simplewe take for granted at the first sight only. Usually I want to relax with Art and not to think too hard . And what about you ?

I like any type of art that surprises me or makes me think.  Although I would agree that sometimes I would rather just relax than have to think about something.  It's so easy to see things in the way that we have become accustomed to see them, especially art.  I would like to clarify your phrase "which seem so simple at first sight" because I think a major point of, say, surrealism is to challenge us to look at objects as if we were seeing them for the first time, once again.  Actually those objects seem well-understood and well-defined because we've seem them so many times and already attached meaning to them.

I like modernism and The Impressionists.  My daughter is an artist and I am very supportive of contemporary art as a consequence.  I love new and fresh ideas.  I really relate to the work of Degas.  I think that Picasso is the artist that I most admire.
