Basically, I try to stay away from reading the newspaper at all as I prefer not to read someone's viewpoint. I avoid political reviews because I am really not into such things anymore as well as the small print ads since I have no wish to buy or sell anything. Now and then, I can only read headlines, entertainment sections, sports and the funnies. My wife likes the horoscope part of the newspaper. It's always the 1st one, for her, to look for. I hope this doesn't sound too geeky!

Only refers to the parts you read so needs to go in front of those to define those parts.. Putting it before read defines the word read.

Very well written, and a good attitude, in my opinion!

I would probably write "Personally, I try to stay....."  I say this because you are expressing your personal view,

but I think most would agree that " Basically " is fine.

" Now and then, I might (or, will) read the headlines......."

I agree with your friend from Canada for that one.

Very good work!

great job, Victor

funnies sounds strange. We used it in America when I was a child but now they usually say the comic section. \

she looks for- interesting, you usually do not want to end a sentence with a preposition (for), however, now ,in most cases, it is accepted and in a case like this is expected.otherwise it sounds very strange.

Thanks, Mike, for your corrections and advice. It's the problem of all foreigners who quite often construct weird sentences or put wrong words into their expressions. I'm not an exclusion.
