I live in Russia, in the city of Taganrog.
This is a small town with a population of 300,000 inhabitants, located on the shore of the Azov Sea. It was founded by Peter the Great more than 350 years ago. Many famous people have visited it, and lived there: writers, poets, composers, musicians, artists, politicians and military leaders.
This is the birthplace of the world-famous writer Anton Chekhov. The city has many memorable places connected with his name: a small house where he was born, public school, where he studied, theater, library and literary museum named in his honor.
Every year it attracts visitors from all over Russia and abroad. They are attracted by mild winters and sunny summers, lots of fruit and vegetables offered at the southern Russian market, hospitable people and memorials of Russian history.

Why are so many Russians excellent at English????? do you all study it from an early age???

OK

theatre

honour

to Russian history (sounds better)

You are using AMERICAN ENGLISH!!!! use BRITISH ENGLISH!!!

Examples- Honour, NOT honor.  Colour, NOT color, Through, NOT Thru.

British English is a "purer form" of English than American. Though my yank mates would dispute that! ;)

Excellent work, give my love to the motherland. :)

Thank you for your generous estimate.

Now, in the order of your questions.

It's a pity, but I'm not excellent at English.

You're right, I really began to study English twice, for the first time in a public school and repeated an attempt now.

I completly agree with you about comparing American and British English.

Forgive me my very week English, I haven't any possiblity to practice in English.

But at home I have books in different languages, including English, which I regularly read.

Sincerely oldbgb (I'm really old)

No. Your English is very good. I wish I could write French to the same standard.

However/but there is a difference in writing in a different language to speaking it!

If you wish to practice in English if you can use/get "Skype" on your computer it can be a good for speaking with other learners.

Good luck!
