In fact, we normally say a head of lettuce in American English. However, it seems that lettuce/head of lettuce are both used in British English when counting head(s) of this vegetable. In other words, both are correct as it is only a matter of usage. The same goes for courgette (UK) and zucchini (US). Good job, diditeloulou. Keep it up!
