A good book for beginners is Hemmingway's "The Old Man and the Sea". Very simple, but exciting written with a lot of repetitions and easy sentence structure.
Just as the previous mentioned "Twilight", I think a lot of fantasy novels are easy to read. I liked "The Golden Compass" and (of course) the Harry Potter books.
That is so true. Harry Potter especially, or any other literature that has children / teenagers as target group is highly recommendable for language learners :-)
I have read a book. It was very wonderful than I have read books all of them in my life . It's name is WORDS. I have been reading that the writer's other a book. Writer's name is Said Nursi. I had read that book for a advice. Book talks about life's fact. Einstein said; to eliminate prejudices, the atomic nucleus is more difficult to fragmenting
Your book sounds very interesting to me because it is written from the viewpoint of a boy who's got Asperger's Syndrom. I will look for it at the local library.
I love reading thrillers in English. I read all the Kay-Scarpetta-books by American author Patricia Cornwell and can recommend them all.The first ones I read in German but must say that a lot gets lost in translation. But even in German they are very entertaining and chilling. When I read one late at night I really got scared. (I bought the English editions 2nd hand at Oxfam).
If you like Kay Scarpetta. , you might enjoy books by Martina Cole.. They are shocking and contain some " bad language " and are difficult to put down ( difficult to stop reading!)
This is a great group and a good idea, thanks dan81!
I agree with dan81, "The curious incident of the dog in the night-time" is a very interesting and easy book. Another esay book for intermediate level is "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas", although is a little sad...
Eric, I began to read Twillight a few months ago, but I thought it was for young people, don't you think? Well, if you recommend it I’ll give it another chance.
My favourite english book is "The Canterville Ghost" by Oscar Wilde. It is quite easy and very interesting. It is a great riddle for me, how Wilde was able to write such serious works as "The picture of Dorian Grey" and such amusing and cheerful works as "The Canterville Ghost".
Have anyone ever read books of any russian writers? Pushkin, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy are the most famous russian writers. I'm from Russia and it's a very interesting issue for me.
I've read quite a lot of Russian writers (in German of course). I even started to learn Russian with the goal to read Puschkin in Russian. And I love the poems by Lermontov. A Russian friend read and recorded them for me. I've travelled widely in the Caucasus region, visited the Lermontov museum in Pjatigorsk and the place where he was killed in duel.
I also love Tchechov and modern writers. I gave up on learning Russian long ago. Maybe one day Busuu will offer it ??

I haven't read a lot of english books yet, but like "The curious incident of the dog in the night-time".
It's easy to read and there are a lot of chapters, so you are not forced to read so much at a stretch.
The linguistic style is very simple, due to the fact that the book is written from the viewpoint of a boy, who's got Asperger´s Syndrome.

Hello from France,
I'm very fond of reading english novels. Actually, I'm about to finish the Stephenie Meyer best-sellers saga "Twilight".
It's very well written and romantic but it seems to fit particularly with the young women 's vision of love.
Even if I am a forty five years old male I can recommend it. There are four volumes but they can be read easily.
