For people who don't know this celebration, St patrick day is the national day of Ireland (eq of 14 july in France).
This celebration is done in some country where there are many Irish migrants. For exemple, the most important parade for that date takes place at New York. There are almost 5 millions people in the street.
In dublin, there is a big parade. It begins at O'connel street and finishes at St Patrick cathedral. There are many floats. They looks like a thematic different every year. This year it's "Extraordinary World". It's really look like the carnival.
This day, you should wear something green.

Pour les gens qui ne connaissent pas cette fête, le jour de Saint patrick est la fête nationale irlandaise (équivalent au 14 juillet en France).

Yes, I know, although in France there is nothing special in that occasion. Except, of course in Irish pubs. In Paris, there are some, such as Corcoran's. You drink much beer, and eat Irish stew and fish and ships. In Eire, where did you live, Fabien, and in France ?

A merry Saint Patrick's day ! My first message did'nt tell more than the last one, my dear Fabien. Pierre Michon is a contempory writer and you can find lots of things about him on line, even an interesting interview about his last book "les Onze" on Youtube. The short novel to which I refer was printed in 1997, by Editions Verdier, under the title "Mythologies d'hiver".
The action takes place from Ireland to the Cévennes. In the first novel called "Ferveur de Brigid" I see a strong interface between the pagan world and christianism. The former is embodied by an old king and his (gorgeous) daughters, while the later is embodied by Saint Patrick, already aged, coming to evangelize…

Unexpectedly, this track for reading was given me by a Spanish mail pen-friend ! as often, foreigners know better than us our litterature !

In Eire I live at Dublin, the capital. It's a cosmopolitan city. There are people from very different places.
Currently, except Irish people, many people come from Poland. It's not rare to heard French, Spanish, Italian, German when you go to the city centre.
In France, I lived in the south at Montélimar. And you, where do you come from ?
