Ireland is an island where everything is green and he is raining a lot. Ok, It's raining occasionnaly but I don't want to broke the french cliché :)
It's a beautiful country. I advise you to visit Killarney if you like hiking. You will love the scenery. The conemara is beautiful as well. It looks like the west coast of united state without the sun :D. I think if you like horse riding it's a place to visit.
You might visit the north of Ireland which belongs to UK. It's different too. The boundary between EIRE and UK is transparent. This area was in war few years ago. Today everything are ok. Last time I went to Belfast the city looks like another one. There were still some trace of old confrontation but it was quiet. Be careful on this area, you would have to pay with pounds and not with euros like in EIRE.
I will talk later about countries I have visited.

I do like Eire very much. I went there during the Summer of 1968, with my sister and my mother. It was great ! We lived in farm houses and the people is very kind. We travelled through Tipperary (do you know the Vey?) A lady tried to teach me Gaelic ! Galway, Connemara (Spiddle). Cooking has the taste of the peaty soil (la tourbe), even the whiskey ! I keep a very good souvenir.
Wow in 1968, it should be very different from now. The country has changed a lot in few years. As told Irish people, 20 years ago, a tourist was a person who was coming from belfast. The country was fairly poor.
I don't know the area you talk about. It's in the center of Ireland. I have never gone there.
I only went through when I visited Galway the Winter of last year. That place was amazing. It's a city where you feel Ireland more than many other I have visited. People were very kind.
You had some luck. I was always eating Irish stew in pubs, never in an irish family. I suppose family cooking is different and probably better. However, their whiskies are great.
There aren't much people who speak Gaelic left today. It's a shame. English is the national language as same as Gaelic. You can use the both. That's why people prefer learning English. Only seniors speak Gaelic fluently.

Je ne connais pas la région dont vous parlez. C'est au centre de l'irlande. Je n'y suis jamais allé.
J'ai seulement traversé quand je suis allé visité Galway, l'hiver de l'année dernière. Cet endroit était incroyable. C'est une ville où vous ressentez l'Irlande beaucoup plus que certaines autres que j'ai visité. Les gens étaient très gentils.
Vous avez eu de la chance. J'ai toujours mangé l'Irish stew dans les pubs, jamais dans une familler irlandaise. Je suppose que la cuisine familiale est différente et probablement meilleur. Cependant leur whisky sont géniaux.
Il ne reste plus beaucoup de gens qui parlent Gaelic aujourd'hui. C'est dommage. L'anglais est la langue nationale comme le Gaelic. Vous pouvez utiliser les deux. C'est pourquoi les gens préférent apprendre l'anglais. Seuls les "anciens" parlent encore Gaelic couramment
I also like Irish litterature. Beckett of course, and Synge, who wrote a theatre play, "the playboy of the western world" traduced to French by Le Baladin du Monde Occidental, and a small book on Isles of Iran.
Today in Germany is very nice weather!!! Springtime!!!! The air smells like spring , I love this season! I was in Ireland years ago, great country, but is was raining every day...... the grass is very green in Ireland:-)
I live in Italy. My city is Bolzano in the north Italy.It's about 100.000 inhabitans, and it' around the mountains.In the winter I go to skiing in the Dolomiti chain.In summer go to Garda lake. that is very beautiful.
