Hello everybody to my Group about the Viennese Accent! :-)
As you might know, this accent (in German called: "Wienerisch") is spoken in Vienna, the capital of Austria. In Austria we speak German with a special accent - different to the German spoken in Germany. In general, Austrians are quite proud about their culture and they believe that the Austrian German sounds more beautiful than the German spoken in Germany. But as tastes are different, you should make your own choice! ;-) (as I am from Vienna I have aleady done so! ;-)
Wienerisch is the accent spoken by the Viennese people. It´s quite a "strong" accent and it has some influences from Hungarian, Hebrew and Czech which comes from the old Habsburg Monarchy. Within Vienna, there are then different accents according to the different districts of the town (there are in total 23 different districts). Somebody coming from the e.g. 13th district (Hietzing, quite a poshed area) speaks different than somebody from the 12th district (Meidling, more labor district). People in Vienna are normally very quick to recognize from which district you come according to your accent.
This just as a short introduction - I will like to try to give you more details within the group!
