Somebody recently said he had dreamt for  long time of going to visit his  'dream city.'

This year  he has realised his dream and is actuallly going there. He is so excited!

Have you got a 'dream city'  that you would love to see?

Either a city in our time or one from a past civilisation?

June :)

hello Sira!  :)

That is a very definite answer!

A cherished dream perhaps?

I do not know anything at all about this country, but it always has a gentle sound to it; as if they are very peaceful people.

I am going to look this country up  on Google!

Thanks, Sira -:)

June .

I did look this country up Sira - and it looks beautiful, there are all kinds of mysterious things  like the aurora borealis,  vast lonely  stretches of pine forests...fresh air...golden summers, the myths and legends.

Lapland, the home of Father Christmas! -:)

I was in my mind sitting  in a sledge being pulled by reindeer flying over the...snow! I jerked awake and read  about the subzero temperatures in Finland's winter.

Ouch... I think I would prefer the golden summers Sira!  I am like a cat, I like  warmth and I do not like being wet.

Yes, I like the sound of Finland - in the golden summmer.. That is on my growing list of countries that I am going to visit when I win the lottery!

I will make you an iron-clad promise Sira ,not if - when I win the lottery I will treat you to a holiday in Finland! :)

I jest not! (antiquated English for I am not joking!  :))

Bye bye,

June :)

Like the most people I don't have only one Dream City. I wish to visit San Francisco, New York, Barcelona, Paris, Prague, Moscow and a lot more.

The prettiest city I visited up to now was Venice. I love the architecture, the small canals and of course my memories of this city. Also I would love to see London again and to have a bit more time to stay there. A few years ago I visited London only for a weekend (that's too short!!!).

Since I go geocaching in my free time, I get a completly other sight on cities. You can get informations about the cities from the geocaches, see places which you maybe wouldn't visit, and you learn to attend the tiny details in a city :-)

Hello Erna! :)

Since I goercaching? in my spare time,  I get  a completely  different view? of cities. You can get information about cities from the geocaches, see places that you maybe wouldn't visit and you learn to pay attention to the tiny details in a city.:-)

This is very good Erna! You write very fluently and I have only  made a few adjustments.

I do  not know what 'geocaching' is. It sounds very interesting!

June :)

Thank you June :-)

I recognized, that I have to learn the different tenses in English again. I'm mostly not sure which tense is the right. I visited, I have visited, I was visiting, I had visited ... I have found a site with explanatory notes to all tenses but nevertheless I make mistakes :-)

Geocaching is a outdoor game. It's a GPS-based "treasure hunt". All over a country there are a lot of hiding-places where small boxes are hidden. In the boxes you can found a small pocketbook/notebook where you leave your visit at this box (by writing your nickname in this book like a logbook). To know where these boxes are hidden, you can have a look on the website geocaching.com. There you will find all "Geocaches" all over the world and also the coordinates to find the boxes. With the coordinates and a GPS-machine you are going in the nature and find the boxes. It's a funny game because you can visit new places where you never have been without geocaching. And also it's a reason to go outside in the nature and do a walk. Sometimes there are mysteries, which you have to unravel before you can get the right coordinates. In summary there are a lot possibilities to learn new things and places and I love it :-)

I wish you a lucky day

Erna

Hello  Norma! :)

Well June, I want to introduce myself because I think if you and the group know where I come from, you can understand better if I have a favourite city for  several reasons. I'm  Mexican, and we are just in the backyard of the United States; most of the Mexicans want to know  the United States first and of course, we have children and we dream that they will be very happy when they have seen Mickey Mouse.

In my case, I visited Disneyland and I felt great emotion. Later, when you learn more about the world, you understand that there's  a great variety of things that  could be interesting.. I've been in New York and I really love it, there are theatres,  great food from all over the world and  I love to try different tastes. Also I love to find the  different expressions of art; this city has almost a small part  of each part of the world; and now I dream about Checoslovakia, some people tell me  that it  is beautiful, I really would like to see this city. This is my dream city.

Well I hope you get to travel to your dream destination!

You have done very well to write this long piece. I found it very  interesting.

Thank you for your contribution  Norma!

June :)
