Community guidelines for Busuu

At Busuu we believe amazing things happen when we learn together. That’s why, when you choose to learn a language with us, you become part of our community, where you can interact with over 120 million learners from around the world.

You can send written and spoken exercises to native or advanced level speakers. Plus, you can receive personalised feedback on your exercises. You can add people who frequently correct your exercises as friends, so you can request feedback anytime you submit a new exercise.

You can also give feedback or correct other Busuu learners who are learning languages you speak.

To keep Busuu a safe and enjoyable environment to learn, we have established the following guidelines which we ask all of our learners to follow.

1. Remember, this is a language-learning platform.

Do not discuss non-language learning or irrelevant content. Do not share external links to websites or social media sites.

2. Treat people in a friendly and helpful manner, always.

This applies to learners who make mistakes as well as those who try to help. You can point out what the original posters or other correctors may have done wrong, but with kindness.

3. Abuse or hateful behaviour are not welcome.

If you experience or notice anything unkind, please report it to us immediately.

4. Do not insult, threaten or leave hateful comments of any sort.

We do not tolerate cruelty, racism, homophobia, sexism or any other form of discrimination. If you experience abuse or notice any hateful comments, please report them.

5. Choose a profile picture that respects our guidelines.

   • No sexual content

   • No text or contact information

   • No depictions of violence or guns

   • No depictions of drugs

   • No offensive gestures

We want to inspire the world to learn together, and for Busuu to be a friendly and safe place for learning.
