More about our story

It all started when Co-Founders Bernhard Niesner and Adrian Hilti met at IE Business School in Spain. Frustrated by the traditional means to learn Spanish, they wanted to create a new solution. Something that combined online courses and interactions with native speakers, allowing everyone in the world to learn a language.

Their idea took form when they founded Busuu in 2008. Named after an endangered language in Cameroon, today Busuu is one of the most globally recognised brands in language education, with offices in both London and Madrid, over 120 million learners worldwide and a trophy case full of awards.
